about us

Impulse Youth Arts

The Impulse Youth Arts Organization (iYao) was established in the winter of 1998. The founders of iYao have dedicated alumni from several local Southern California groups who wanted to bring fun and competitive productions designed with the audience in mind. iYao is proud to contribute to the rapidly growing world of pageantry arts for the millions of young performers in the region and has aided the establishment and growth of several competitive arts organizations in Southern California.

Mission Statement

Impowering young adults to combine the best of athletics, music, and the arts.

Impulse Youth Arts Organization is the perfect activity for young adults to combine the best of athletics, music, and the arts. These ingredients are for enjoyment performing for the audience. Even so, our groups are extraordinarily seriously competitive and ensure the quality of their performances. Our unique combination of excellence and fun sets our impulse.

Values we live by

youth develop

We develop youth into champions through a culture that demands character and accountability.

soft skill

Creative experience is a constant work in progress, and we teach the membership to accommodate change with the attitude that it's for the best outcome. Accommodating change to innovate is a crucial soft skill in today's competitive work and business environment.

Take change

The Impulse experience is a microcosm of real life. Taking change and learning to perfect a new task on-demand prepares our members for life after Impulse.

DCI Division III World Championship

In 2006, Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps, having fewer than 60 members, moved to Division III and won the DCI Division III World Championship at Madison. The following year, DCI held its championships in Impulse's home state, where the corps earned another spot in the Division ll and lll finals placing 6th in Division lll finals in Pasadena, CA.
