Performance Groups

LEGACY: The Freelancers were sponsored and founded in 1933 by the George W. Manhart American Legion Post 391.  The corps was an all male Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps going by the name Manhart Capitalaires.  In 1936 the corps changed direction and became an all girl corps; the Capitalaires.

In 1973 the corps became co-ed and changed their name to the Capital Freelancers and in 1979 a change to Sacramento Freelancers.

From 1975 thru 1994 the corps had a 19 year run as a nationally touring DCI  corps. The corps placed in the top twelve 10 times and 9 times in the top twenty.  In 1995 the field corps went inactive. In 1996 the corps started a World Class Winter Percussion line and competed up through 2010. During these years the percussion line placed as high as second in the Winter Percussion Championships.

In 2008, following the 2007 DCI World Championships, The Freelancers held their first alumni reunion.  Rekindling fond memories was not enough and from that seed, the Freelancers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps was born.

In 2009 the Alumni corps started competing as a mini-corps.  Each year the corps grew stronger and continued to foster a passion for music and camaraderie.

TODAY: The Freelancers Alumni Corps are the current reigning Drum Corps Associates Mini-Corps Champions. The corps vision is to continue in a tradition of pride, respect, dedication and commitment to excellence in like manner of their rich legacy.

The corps not only has members from Sacramento Freelancers, but includes alumni from Blue Devils,  Vanguard, Kingsmen, Impulse, Velvet Knights and even individuals with no drum corps background.

Pacific Crest began in 1993 with 33 students. Today the organization is one of North America’s most respected performing arts programs, and reaches 4,900 students each year through its flagship Drum and Bugle Corps and educational and outreach programs in Southern California.

In 2018, Pacific Crest celebrated its 25th anniversary, and capped it off with a performance in the 2019 Rose Parade. The organization has been a Member of Drum Corps International’s World Class since 2003, and in 2019 finished in 14th place at DCI World Championships, the corps’ highest placement ever.

Gold Drum & Bugle Corps was founded in 2005 by Executive Director Donald Flaherty Ed.D. The group was formed to provide a positive youth activity to kids and young adults in the Hawthorne CA area. In 2010 the organization expanded its’ service area to include the entire Southern California region. Gold formally incorporated as Gold Youth Arts Organization Inc., in 2013 as an IRS recognized not-for-profit youth organization.

Gold is dedicated to giving students the performance, work, and life skills necessary to succeed in our modern world. Dedication, loyalty, and honesty are the virtues that Gold promotes. Achievement through perseverance and teamwork are the qualities that define the organization. Gold’s primary purpose is to enrich the educational, social, ethical and performing arts lives of young adults through the art of marching music and performance.

Representing California’s San Joaquin Valley, Golden Empire was founded to give youth the opportunity to further their skills in brass, percussion and visual performance. The drum corps is an extension of the Bakersfield College Drumline program. Celebrating its fifth anniversary as an Open Class drum corps, this summer will mark Golden Empire’s very first trip to the DCI World Championships.

FOUNDED IN 2017

All-American Brew Works is a veteran owned and operated craft brewery, founded by family and friends, brewing in their garage, with a passion for great American style beers that we wanted to share with our local community.

Our Taproom is equipped with 20 taps to feature our favorite independently brewed, craft beers.  We brew on a 4 BBL Brewhouse, specializing in a flavorful, full range of crushable light beers, hop forward styles, fruited sours and hard seltzer waters.

THE OPENING OF CO-PILOTS
DELI, BBQ & CATERING IN 2020

Shortly after opening in 2017, we met our friends with the Half Ass BBQ catering and competition team. After hosting several kick butt BBQ days at the brewery, it was decided to partner with Pitmaster Eric Miller & the Half Ass BBQ team to open up Co-Pilots Deli & BBQ, to offer a full time food menu to complement All-American’s beer line-up.

The kitchen space Is small but Eric is pumping out some top quality deli sandwiches, which are headlined by the crowd favorite F-14 Tomcat.  It’s loaded up with our house smoked turkey breast, bacon & provolone cheese.  Then dressed with avocado mash, mayo, fresh shred lettuce, tomatoes, house pickled onions, house seasoning blend and mouth watering house creamy BBQ sauce!

Established in 2017 and finally opening our doors to the public on February 9, 2019, we’ve grown tremendously because of you.

Growing up in the OC beer scene made us partial to the flavor profiles and benefits of having a barrel aging program (wine, spirit, new oak). We hope you enjoy this adventure along with us!

DCI Celebration - Indianapolis AUGUST 12-14

We needs your help raising funds to replace our beloved equipment trailer.

Our three year plan originally called for replacement after the 2019 season, but during the season it was deemed not road worthy. Due to the age of the trailer plus the cost to retro-fitting for 2022, it was decided to retire her to storage.

History: Impulse Purchased in 2003, (trailer age 1974) Phantom Regiment 1st trailer, then Phantom Legion, later some group in AZ.

Tasty Whiskey & Dinner, set inside a lovely location!
